Pursuit Students

Wednesday Nights @ 6:30 pm

Pursuit Student Ministry exists to Ignite students to Pursue God Together. The best way for this to happen is for parents and students to ignite other students to pursue God together. The belief is that faith is active, exciting, and adventurous.  Following Jesus is worth giving your whole life to...so it can't be about showing up somewhere once a week.

We believe in a engaging ministry | We believe in a synchronized ministry | We believe in a community ministry.

Better Off Without Jesus

Better off without Jesus, that title can really throw you off. Have you ever wondered why Jesus had to go to heaven and why He wouldn’t just stay here on earth to help us fix our problems? Jesus should have just stayed; everything would be so much better if He did. But would it? The disciples were hard headed and wimpy when Jesus was on earth. It wasn’t until He left that they became bolder, stronger and better. Why? The Holy Spirit. Jesus said that He needed to leave in order for the Helper to come and dwell inside of those who believe in Him. The Holy Spirit gives us power. The disciples had it, you have it and your students have it. This is why Jesus left and this is why greater things can be done through the Spirit inside of us.

Small Groups

Second and Fourth Wednesday of Each Month

The point of Groups is to provide yet another voice in the lives of students that points them to Jesus. Students have a caring and consistent Group Leader that is with them throughout Middle School and then a new group leader who follows them through High School.

Our Sanford Campus Groups meet in a Host Home off campus.  For the Orange City campus, High School meets in various Host Homes and Middle School meets on campus in the Student Ministry Hall.

Serve Night or Pathways

Third Wednesday of Each Month

On the Third Wednesday of the month we desire for students to go deeper in their knowledge of God and to put their faith into practice by serving the needs of those around us. Each month we will use this night differently. It could be a one night Pursuit Pathways Class that takes teenagers deeper in their understanding of who God is or a Serve Night where they can meet a practical need, 3rd Wednesday nights are an engaging and meaningful experience you don’t want to miss! Check this page each month for details about what we will be doing.

Fifth Wednesday

"You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might.  And these words that I command to you today shall be on your heart.  You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise."  Deuteronomy 6:5-7

Family Night on 5th Wednesday is not intended to be a "night off," but rather time for you as parents to spend quality yet purposeful time with your kids.  In the craziness of life, sometimes we forget the important things – to raise our children to be worshipers of Jesus.  We train and equip them to go to school, play ball, and make wise decisions, etc.  None of those things are wrong, but they can't be what is most important.  God says the most important thing is knowing and loving Him (and then loving others!). Family Night is planned for you, as parents, to create small yet memorable experiences with your children to help them to love Jesus.  We know this can look a million different ways, but here are a few ideas to get the creative juices flowing.

PRAY AS A FAMILY // Maybe it's been a while since you have prayed together as a family.  Gather everybody together.  Go around and let everyone share how they can pray for each other as a family.  Then just spend some time praying for each other.  If you feel comfortable explain how God talks to us and He wants us to talk to Him...prayer!

GO FOR ICE CREAM // Maybe it's been a while since you've really connected with your child. Go get some cookies n' cream, sit outside, and see what's going on in their life. As they share, look for even the smallest ways you can share with them how you see God working in their life.

ASK QUESTIONS // This might seem crazy, but have a time where kids can ask you any kind of spiritual/biblical question.  From these questions maybe you can have a "family study" time. This would also be good for us parents to understand more some difficult things of the bible.  Feel free to email me your questions (I'll probably just ask Pastor James) or do some study on your own and set up a time to discuss.

FAMILY WORSHIP TIME // Read some passages of the Bible together (one option is our S.O.A.P. Devotionals), pray, and possibly sing together (I know this might be pushing it, but it might work or help you to have a good laugh together).

DATE NIGHT // Plan a "parent date night." Dads take your daughters out and moms take your sons out. Make it a place where the both of you can talk/have fun together. Share with your kids how you met your spouse, explain to them the ups and downs of marriage, and tell them how you're working to stay together. This would be a great time to work in how marriage is a reflection of God's love to the world.  If you are a single parent, share with them your experiences with marriage or relationships. Teach them from your experiences to value marriage and explain how marriage teaches us of God's love.

GUYS NIGHT/GIRLS NIGHT // Plan a night to go see a ball game, movie, etc.  Take some time to explain how God designed men and women to complement each other and the roles each play.

JUST DO SOMETHING // Go fishing, bake a cake, go eat some wings, or go for a walk.  There is no secret formula.  It's more about building healthy relationships so you can continue to share with your children how Jesus has changed your life and how He can change theirs.  Share with them why you love Jesus.  Share with them your struggles/doubts.  Share with them how much God loves them.  Share with them how God desires for us to love others.  The point is to consistently do this over the next 7-10 years, not to plan the "perfect" outing.  Just make sure they are purposeful in helping your kids love God more.

Pursuit Student Ministry believes that it is the parent's primary role to disciple their children. We want to come alongside and help them to do this. Every aspect of our student ministry wants to help resource, train and/or involve parents.

Pursuit Student Ministry desires to ignite students to pursue God together. We want your students to realize that nothing is better in this world than Jesus and living for Him. The Bible is primarily the best way to see Jesus. So, we want your students to read the Bible to see how great Jesus really is. As a church, we are connected by reading S.O.A.P. We encourage you to join with your students in reading through these relevant passages that correlate with our weekend services. Students can go to the web page, read their bible verses, and you, as parents, can go over it with them.

Disciple6 – Studys On topics we will be covering this year (2016-17)

Want to go a little deeper into the topics and truths we will be learning about this year in Pursuit? Disciple6 has a number of lessons that will go along with our topics. They can be studied on an individual basis or as a family.
