40 Days 2019 – Live Alive • Part 5
One of the areas that Jesus really camps on is how we relate to others. We are to love others, but loving people can be hard, especially when those we are trying to love have hurt us. They say things and do things that wound us. How can we be set free to live alive?
Have someone from your group quote the memory verse from last week.
What has God been teaching you this week?
When you hear the word forgive, what comes to your mind?
Read Matthew 18:21-35. Forgiveness is all about letting go of the debt. If the debt of the first servant was already forgiven (cancelled, wiped out), what debt was Jesus referring to that had to be paid before the first servant could be set free? What is the only way for the debt to be paid in full?
Why is it so dangerous to hold on to unforgiveness? When is it most difficult for you to forgive others? Who in your life is God asking you to forgive?
Unforgiveness is a prison that holds you back from living alive. We lock ourselves in and are constantly tortured by the past. How does knowing this empower you to take steps to forgive others?
Experiencing the forgiveness of Jesus enables you to forgive like Jesus. If you are holding on to unforgiveness, how far into the future do you intend to carry the hurt of your past?
You can’t deal with your past if you hide it. Whatever God reveals, He wants to heal. Trusting God with the pain of your past requires faith. Can you share a time when you forgave someone and it totally set you free?
