Together - Dealing With the Mess Together

Ephesians 4:21-32

God wants the very best for us relationally. He wants us to have thriving relationships. Every relationship in our life will improve when we do things his way. When we don’t, the wheels start to come off. God knows the destructive power conflict has in our relationships and life. He wants to uncover for us his plan to deal with conflict. This week, we will talk about how we can have conflict with one another in a healthy manner.

1. What stood out to you in Pastor James’ sermon this week?

2. Read Ephesians 4:21-27 Paul acknowledges that we will all get angry. What does he say about anger in verse 27?

3. Read Ephesians 4:28-32. Notice the word “all.” What are the “all” things the Bible tells us to get rid of?

4. Pastor James said we must “Know our Role.” We are not to play the role of the Holy Spirit. The role of the Holy Spirit is to correct, convict, and change. How do we take on the role of the Holy Spirit when we are in conflict with other people?

5. Rather than try to change someone else, what does verse 32 tell us to do?

6. Read Proverbs 18:2 & 13. What wisdom do these verses give us? How can practicing this helps us to have better, healthier relationships?

7. Pastor James said that the following three words can help diffuse any conflict. How can the words “Help me understand” change the situation?
